Crowns & Bridges

Crowns or caps are designed to look and feel like natural teeth, and they are a great option when you desire a more dramatic change in your appearance. We can significantly lighten the shade of your teeth, correct spacing problems and achieve beautiful esthetics, particularly if your teeth have been more severely damaged. Bridges are multiple attached crowns used to provide lasting replacement to missing natural teeth.

Veneers

Zirconia veneers allow us to predictably enhance your smile. When you want that Hollywood smile, these strong, durable restorations are the treatment of choice. They work well for patients with misshapen or crooked teeth, severe discoloration, and other esthetic imperfections. Veneers are a type of ceramic material known as zirconia oxide that we use to make full or partial crowns for restoring a damaged tooth. Two visits are all that are necessary for that beautiful smile.

Bleaching
Britesmile Zoom!

Teeth whitening is one of the simplest ways to upgrade your smile. We have a number of treatment options for both in-office and take-home use. It’s easy, affordable and painless! We look forward to helping you achieve a dazzling new smile utilizing the Britesmile and Zoom! whitening systems.

Inlays/Onlays

Tooth colored inlays/onlays and veneers are also bonded restorations used to replace your fillings. They often require 2 visits. We use these to improve esthetics where your tooth requires additional strength or reinforcement.

Bonding

Bonding is a simple treatment that we use to fix chipped teeth, lighten their color and even make over your smile. Either your front or back teeth can be bonded. Treatment is fast, allowing us in one visit to give you a more youthful smile and replace old metal fillings with an esthetic material that should last for year.

My teeth are crooked and crowded. Is there a faster way than braces to make them more attractive?
If you have crooked and crowded teeth, we can enhance your smile with alternative cosmetic solutions, such as resin bonding, zirconia veneers, and crowns.

Give us a call at (248) 646-8651 to schedule your free consultation with Dr. Kosinski. He’ll examine your oral health and discuss the best course of treatment for you.

If I’m missing a tooth, do I really need to replace it?
If you’re missing a tooth, it’s important to replace it to restore its function and aesthetic, as well as to prevent further complications. An untreated area may result in bite problems, periodontal disease, or tooth decay.

  • Surrounding teeth can move out of position and lean into the space, causing an uneven bite.
  • Food particles can get trapped in the gap and can be difficult to remove, causing gum disease and decay.
  • Bone loss can occur in the area which can cause the jawbone to shrink, the appearance of sagging skin and premature wrinkles, and make dental implants more difficult to place in the future (if the tooth has been missing for a long time)
How can I make my teeth look whiter?
Dr. Kosinski offers several teeth whitening options to help brighten your smile. We can use bleach to eliminate surface discoloration, dental bonding to cover stains, or zirconia veneers to restore the appearance of your teeth.
Will my teeth become sensitive if I have them bleached?
It’s rare for your teeth to become sensitive after bleaching. In fact, it only occurs in 1 out 10 patients who have their teeth bleached. In these cases, Dr. Kosinski can utilize other agents to desensitize your teeth.
What causes teeth to discolor?
There are various factors that cause teeth to discolor. Teeth typically darken with age but what we eat and drink also plays an important role.

Foods that may lead to discoloration include:

  • Red wine
  • Tea
  • Coffee
  • Berries
  • Cranberry juice
  • Soy sauce
  • Soda
Are home whitening kits effective?
At-home whitening kits are usually effective, depending on the type of stain or discoloration. Dr. Kosinski recommends using commercial products that contain 10, 16, or 22 percent hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide for noticeable results.

Our Bingham practice utilizes laser teeth whitening technology with a stronger bleaching agent for patients seeking more effective results.

What is the difference between a cap and a crown?
A cap and crown both refer to the same type of full-coverage restoration. If a tooth is severely broken down, a crown (cap) is fabricated that will cover the entire tooth and restore it to its natural shape and function. When esthetics is important, porcelain will be used.
What are zirconia veneers?
Zirconia veneers are a type of ceramic material known as zirconia oxide that’s bonded to the front surface and biting edge of your upper or lower teeth. Minimal tooth reduction is necessary, and they can be used to close spaces, straighten teeth, cover stained teeth and/or create better-proportioned teeth.
Can I change the old silver fillings in my teeth?
Yes, it is possible to change old silver fillings to new, tooth-colored fillings. There are many alternative restorations that provide both cosmetics and the strength of amalgam fillings, especially in back teeth. Give us a call at (248) 646-8651 to learn more.
What can be done about my chipped teeth?
If you have a chipped tooth, Dr. Kosinski can restore your smile with several cosmetic treatments, such as resin bonding, zirconia veneers, and dental crowns. He’ll determine the best treatment for you after examining the damage and patient’s bite.
