Dentures and Their Benefits
We know how uncomfortable and embarrassing it is to live with gaps in your smile. Missing teeth in one or both jaws is an unfortunate dental problem that affects more than 36 million Americans. One of the most popular, affordable tooth replacement options available today is dentures.
Dentures are removable prosthetic teeth, generally made from high-quality acrylic material, that can help restore your smile and enhance your appearance. Additional benefits patients receive from dentures are:
A long-lasting tooth replacement solution
Fills out the structure of your face
Restores most eating and speaking function
Convenient and custom-made to fit your mouth
Easy to clean and maintain
A more cost-effective treatment
Our Denture Solutions
Here at the Smile Creator of Bingham Farms, Dr. Kosinski can help you regain your confidence to smile again with our affordable restorative treatment. Depending on your case and candidacy, one treatment may be a more optimal choice for you than another.
We offer three different types of denture solutions that can replace multiple missing teeth, an entire arch in the upper or lower jaw, or even all your teeth. Explore our partial, full, and implant-supported dentures to learn more and determine which option is best for you.
Partial Dentures
A partial denture is a removable denture that can replace one or more missing teeth. This solution is ideal for patients who still retain some of their natural teeth. We secure partial dentures with metal clasps that attach to your remaining teeth. In some cases, we’ll place crowns over your natural teeth to act as an anchor for the denture.
Each partial denture is custom-made from the digital impressions we take of your smile so they can precisely match the shape, size, and color of your teeth. After you receive this treatment, eating and speaking will become much easier and you’ll no longer have to hide your smile.
Full Dentures
If you’re missing all of your teeth in either jaw, a full denture can be an effective, affordable solution to restore your smile. A full denture will have a gum-colored acrylic base that fits over your gums and covers the entire roof of your mouth or it can be U-shaped to accommodate your tongue.
After they’re personalized and made from your accurate digital impressions, Dr. Kosinski will determine if a conventional or immediate denture is best for you.
- Conventional denture: We offer this treatment if you still have remaining teeth left, but need them removed. Extracting your teeth will require a recovery period which can take several months, allowing for the tissue to successfully heal. This option means you’ll be toothless throughout this timeframe.
- Immediate denture: After Dr. Kosinski has taken measurements and made several denture models in a previous visit, he can instantly place a denture right after your extraction procedure. You won’t have to live with missing teeth any longer, but you may have to return to get your denture readjusted after your mouth has completely healed.
Implant-Supported Dentures
When partial or full dentures aren’t the ideal fit for you and you want a more stable tooth replacement option, then an implant-supported denture is a great alternative. An implant denture feels and functions even more like your natural teeth and offers a longer-lasting life span than any other restorative treatment.
Also known as overdentures, this solution generally uses four to eight implants that integrate with your jawbone, allowing them to provide a solid base for a new beautiful restoration. This option is most suitable for patients who don’t have any teeth remaining in their jaw, but also have enough bone density to securely hold the implants.
Implant-supported dentures offer a more comfortable, natural-looking solution that makes eating and speaking easier than ever. They’re built to last up to a lifetime with proper oral care and can be easily removed for daily maintenance.
